OSM & SMII: 1988

UNLV: 11/28/87-9/24/88

UNLV and Ohio must have spent the offseason looking ahead to their September 24 Shame Mask match up because UNLV started with losses to Baylor and Cal State Fullerton and Ohio started with losses to Marshall and Purdue. Unfortunately for Ohio, what happened in Vegas in this case did not stay in Vegas, and Ohio returned home having traded up to get the Original Shame Mask and return Shame Mask II to the broom closet in Evanston, IL.

Ohio: 11/14/87-10/1/88

Ohio didn't keep it long though. In their first chance, they passed the Original Shame Mask by beating Toledo 24-14.

Toledo: 10/1/88-10/8/88

Toledo also did not like wearing the Shame Mask, and beat Northern Illinois the following week 33-20.

Northern Illinois 10/8/88-11/12/88

Northern Illinois went 3-2 in this stretch wearing the Shame Mask, sweeping the directional Illinois (Southern and Western) but losing to the Div. IA teams Louisiana-Lafayette and Ball State, before finally beating Western Michigan 15-7 in their final game of the season.

Western Michigan 11/12/88-11/19/88

Luckily, while Western Michigan had only one game remaining in the season, it was against Ohio, and they won 23-16.

Ohio 11/19/88-end of the season

Another offseason of shame for Ohio.
