SMII: 1987

Ball State: 11/15/86-10/10/87

Ball State began their 1987 campaign by losing the first four times they played. But then they went to Kent State on October 10, and turned the season around. Kent State was 3-1, but Ball State pulled the upset winning 24-23.

Kent State 10/10/87-10/17/87

Kent State rebounded well and only wore the Shame Mask for one week, during which they prepared well for Western Michigan, beating them 27-13.

Western Michigan 10/17/87-11/7/87

Western Michigan lost to Eastern Michigan (which finished 10-2) and Central Michigan (which finished 5-5-1) before hosting Ball State on 11/7. Of course Ball State lost to regain Shame Mask IV.

Ball State 11/7/87-11/14/87

Having spent the previous two offseasons wearing Shame Mask IV, Ball State was not too kean on making a third straight. Luckily for them, their final Div. IA opponent of the season was Ohio, who had only beaten Div. IAA Marshall on the season. Ball State won 30-17. They lost to Indiana State the next week to end the season 4-7.

Ohio 11/14/87-end of the season

Ohio ended their miserable season with a loss to Western Michigan, giving them their second consecutive 1-10 season.
