GGSM: 1985

Wyoming: 11/17/84-9/21/85

The long off-season in Wyoming wearing the Shame Mask made the Cowboys eager to take it off, but the 1985 season started with two tough challanges--at Baylor (no joke here, Baylor went 9-3 in 1985 with their losses by 3 at 7-3-2 Georgia, by 7 at 10-2 Arkansas, and by 7 at 8-4 Texas.) and at home against the Air Force Academy squad that went 12-1. The next week when Cal State Fullerton, Div. I-A at the time, came to Laramie, Wyoming finally got a win to pass on the Mask. Unfortunately they would have to wait seven more weeks for their next win and finished the season 3-8.

Cal State Fullerton: 9/21/85-9/28/85

Cal State Fullerton's 1985 campaign started out pretty rough with two losses to Div. I-AA opponents, 31-30 at home to Montana and 30-3 at Nevada-Reno, before lossing to Wyoming to gain the Shame Mask. However, this may have been the shock they needed to get them into gear because they beat San Jose State the following week to start their run to finish the season by winning 6 of their last 8 games, with one of the losses coming against 11-0-1 Fresno State. While Cal State Fullerton did go 6-5 in 1985, it should be noted that of the 8 Div. I-A opponents they played, only Fresno State had a winning record.

San Jose State: 9/28/85-10/26/85

San Jose State played eight road games in 1985. After losing their first home game of the season against Cal State Fullerton, they then lost two tough road games 37-17 at 11-0-1 Fresno State and 41-0 at 8-3-1 Arizona. Then they return home to host Pacific, which was then Div. I-A., and won 34-26. San Jose State finished the season 2-8-1 in 1985.

Pacific: 10/26/85-end of 1985

Pacific entered their game with San Diego State with a 4-3 record, but their season definitely went downhill after that. After getting the Shame Mask, they lost to Cal State Long Beach, Fresno State, and Cal State Fullerton. They did however get a win over Div. I-AA Weber State in their next to last game of the season. They finished 5-7.
