Pacific: 10/26/1985-9/20/1986

Pacific began the 1986 season by beating Cal. State Sacramento, their second victory over a I-AA team while wearing the Golden Gopher Shame Mask. The following week, the lost to Wyoming before the Aggies of New Mexico State came to town and left wearing the Shame Mask after losing 41-14.

New Mexico State: 9/20/1986-end of 1986

It was a tough year for New Mexico State in 1986. Prior to their loss to Pacific, they lost at Div. II Angelo State, beat Cal. State Fullerton, and then lost to UTEP. After the loss to Pacific to gain the Shame Mask, they continued their losing ways with losses to Arkansas, Utah State, Frenso State, Cal. State Long Beach, New Mexico, San Jose State, and finally to UNLV to end the year 1-10.
