OSM: 1987

Cincinnati 11/15/87-9/12/87

Cincinnati began the season with a 10-7 loss to Rutgers, but they beat up on Louisville 25-0 the following week.

Louisville 9/12/87-10/24/87

The week after getting the Shame Mask for the first time, the Louisville Cardinals traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana, to take on Purdue. They played to a 22-22 tie. Thus Shame Mask III returns to service locked around the head of the Purdue Boilermakers. Louisville won the following week against non-Div. IA Murray State, but then followed with losses to Southern Miss, Marshall, and Florida State before beating Akron 31-10.

Akron 10/24/87-11/7/87

Akron beat non-Div. IA Nichols State the following week, and then won again the next week over Northern Illinois 27-21.

Northern Illinois 11/7/87-11/28/87

The Huskies beat non-Div. IA Western Illinois the week after being forced to wear the mask, and then after a bye week took on UNLV and won 34-31.

UNLV 11/28/87-end of the season

UNLV would have to wait until 1988 to get rid of the Original Shame Mask.

It is interesting to note that while every team that wore the Original Shame Mask in 1987 lost at least 7 games except for Northern Illinois which finished at 5-5-1, the team wearing the Shame Mask went 7-4-1.
