1998: When Shame Masks collide

SMIII: Central Michigan: 10/4/97-9/26/98

Central Michigan began the season with a loss to Iowa, but then they beat non-Div. IA Western Illinois and then beat Kent State 46-7.

OSM: Northern Illinois: 8/30/98-10/17/98

Entering the season losers of 18 straight, Northern Illinois lost their first 5 games of 1998 before Central Michigan came to town. The Huskies won 16-6.

OSM: Central Michigan: 10/17/98-10/24/98

Central Michigan spent three weeks without wearing a Shame Mask, and they grew to like it. Thus, the next week they beat Western Michigan 26-24. The Chipawahs finished the season 6-5 despite wearing a Shame Mask for 4 weeks in 1998.

OSM: Western Michigan: 10/24/98-10/31/98

Western Michigan gained the Orignial Shame Mask at the perfect time to set up the match up of be-Shame-Masked teams on Halloween, no less, when the Broncos travelled to Kent State. Western Michigan beat the winless Flashes 48-23. Western Michigan went on to go 7-4 in 1998.

Kent State: 9/26/98-end of the season

After the loss to Western Michigan, Kent State took the Original Shame Mask in favor of Shame Mask III, which is finally retired to the broom closet in Evanston, IL. Kent State finished the season by losing their final two games, running their losing streak to 13 games.
