GGSM: 1996

Wake Forest: 10/28/95-9/7/96

After a shameful 1-10 1995 season, Wake Forest kicked off the 1996 in the right fashion. They got revenge with a win over Div. IAA Appalachian State, and then an even bigger win the following week over Northwestern 28-27.

Northwestern: 9/7/96-9/14/96

In the twelve years since Northwestern's horrid losing streak gave rise to the Shame Mask, the Wildcats had greatly improved. In 1995, they went 10-2, earning a trip to the Rose Bowl after an undefeated Big Ten season. It took them a while to get used to their winning ways because they lost their first game in 1996 to Wake Forest. But lucky for them, they had a return trip to the state of North Carolina the following week to face Duke. Northwestern won 38-13. They finished the season 9-3.

Duke: 9/14/96-end of the season

Duke took a three game losing streak into their Shame Mask game with Northwestern and just kept on losing. They finished the season a dismal 0-11.
